What would you do if you were suddenly lost in the woods with no cell phone or belongings? Twenty-five-year-old Lisa Ferris just survived over three weeks alone without food and only little water — from rain and puddles — before being rescued.

Experts says she may have lost up to forty pounds during her excruciating journey, in which Ferris says she sucked rain water out of her hair and foraged for berries in the forest to stay alive. Ferris was unsure how she would survive or if anyone would find her. After 25 days missing, her family and police had assumed she was dead.

Last weekend, though, she somehow made her way out of the woods to a nearby road where a driver spotted her, weak, naked and collapsed. The driver call 911 and Ferris was soon picked up, her body covered in poison ivy, bug bites and dirt from head to toe.

In an interview with ABC news, Ferris said she didn’t know how she got to the woods in the first place and may have been drugged. She was last seen with two men, who had recently vandalized a nearby cabin. Ferris herself had been scheduled to appear in court for a minor, unrelated charge while she was lost, though that was dropped when police determined she was likely deceased.

There seems to be a lot of missing information, but no matter how she got there, it’s not likely Ferris intended to go into survival mode. Without a phone or her glasses (she says she’s legally blind without them), her chances of making it were slim. Thank goodness she had the fortitude to find resources needed to sustain her until she was found.
