Actually had an old job of mine refuse to service a homeless woman who had received $20 from someone simply because she made them feel “uncomfortable” and she smelled. Mind you, the seating to eat was all outdoors anyways.
I scolded my coworkers and told them I’d watch her if it made them feel better but the woman had every right to eat and enjoy her meal in peace. She had a tendency to talk to herself and sometimes yell at herself (probably from being homeless for so long or other reasons), but I just sat next to her and kept her calm. She enjoyed her food and left. She always came by our work searching through the garbage bins…. I just felt she needed a good decent meal and a break from people trying to push her away all the time.
Some people need to realize that treating others, especially people less fortunate than us, with respect and kindness is how you should live. A person is a person, no matter the situation.
