Some of my favorite recording artists are the ones who realize that the world needs Jesus more than they need to be entertained. When the famous band known as Alabama stepped on stage, they decided to worship instead of perform. And it proved to be just what the audience needed. This is beautiful.

The band Alabama is known for many of their unique songs such as “Mountain Music” and “Tennessee River”. But the group is also equally talented at performing music about their faith, such as the hit “Angels Among Us”.

During one of their recent performances, Alabama passed up singing one of their own songs in order to bring a rendition of George Bennard’s 100-year-old hymn “The Old Rugged Cross“. Watch as lead singer Randy Owen’s eyes well up with tears as he worships God.
