Everyone loves Lay’s potato chips, and even I did, until I found out a shocking revelation. There is something every consumer should know before eating them. The Frito-Lay corporation, that sells the chips, is the subsidiary of PepsiCo, the largest food and beverage business in America.
In a company report, the Lay’s brand of chips is the top consumed snack food around the globe, which is pretty scary considering this fact. Independent researchers conducted a study that showed all of the Lay’s chips had been filled with a dangerously toxic pesticide.
This pesticide doesn’t wash off and it stays in the produce within its plant cells. There was a link found between glyphosate and lymphoma as well. It was even found that Sun Chips contain traces of glyphosate.
GMO Free USA reports:
“The quantitative PCR test verified, by DNA analysis, that 100% of the corn in the SunChips was GMO, containing DNA sequences known to be present in insecticide-producing Bt and Roundup Ready corn. The test documented the presence of glyphosate in SunChips at a level of 0.14 ppm, or 0.14 mg/kg.”
What is so shocking is that not a lot of people know about this, and many consider it to be heathy.
Frito-Lay strives to falsely advertise their products as healthy options and with “whole grains,” while confusing consumers with vegetables on the label. Even if there was no glyphosate in these chips, they still wouldn’t be healthy to consume, even for your kids. Bruce Bradley says that they may be a healthy option, but it’s not impressive enough. The chips have 6 grams of fat, 140 calories and 120 mg of sodium in a single serving.
PepsiCo has gone to great lengths to keep everyone in the dark about their use of pesticides. The report from GMO Free USA reveals that PepsiCo gave $8.1 million dollars to strike down ballot initiatives in many states, that would have enforced laws promoting disclosure of GMO usage. We can only imagine what else could be worse that they aren’t telling us.
