Peng Shuilin was born in Hunan Province of China. As an youngster, he had dreams and ambitions about his life. In 1995, a fatal accident completely changed his life. He was hit by a freight truck and it sliced his body in half with no legs, no genitals or part of the hip. Without any hope of survival, Peng was taken to a hospital in Shenzhen. Surgeons sewed up his torso with the skin of his head, to keep his organs alive.

Doctors did their best to maintain the life of the 78 cm man and they concluded that he has less than 30 percent chance of survival. The 37-year-old spent two years in the same hospital undergoing countless surgeries to re-route nearly every major organ or system inside his body. He was still too weak to contain his organs and that made him to spent the subsequent months in a horizontal position. He was troubled with suicidal thoughts. But the love of his devoted wife and son made him hopeful.
